The Heart Behind the Art
I have been lucky enough to build HighlyCreativeDoe little by little since April 2020. I was wrapping up my first year as a Neuroscience major at UCLA when I moved back home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, looking for what felt missing. To keep busy, I ordered a beading kit, canvases, some cheap brushes and paints from Amazon. I began with simple beaded bracelets first until I finally picked the brushes up and painted my first piece since being in AP Art in High School. From that point, I changed my makeup instagram to a crafts and art page and posted my creations, which to my surprise, many people were interested, and commissioned me for customs pieces.

In early 2022, I had been struggling with my mental health while studying online until I ultimately took a leave of absence. Feeling lost and unsure what to do, I was lucky enough to have people around me who saw the potential in not only my craft but me. I had the opportunity to join the SEED Entrepreneurship program by Bay Area Community Resources (BACR), which taught me how to run my business, present it to a panel of judges and ultimately received funding that changed the entire trajectory of my business. Â

Since 2022, I have been able to vend at many different vendor pop ups across the Bay Area and build a presence in that way. Knowing that this is where my heart and passion laid, I decided in 2023 to go to City College of San Francisco (CCSF) to take art classes to improve my skills. I hadn't intended to return back to school but fell in love with all my classes and being able to be close to family, build my business, work a part time job and most of all, to learn. In Spring of 2025 I was lucky enough to not only begin a job at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts (MCCLA) as a Studio Monitor in their printmaking studio, but I also graduated with from CCSF with an Arts and Humanities Associates degree. I stayed at MCCLA until end of 2025 where I learned not only how to run a printmaking studio, but also how too curate, execute and install gallery exhibitions, how to handle archival work, how to create, outreach and host artistic workshops and more. In 2026, I shifted into working more closely with elder adults across San Francisco supporting a brain health and creative arts program that hosts workshops in many languages and artistic disciplines.Â

What started as a personal exploration of finding what was missing in my heart, has evolved into a dream come true, powered by passion. I am proud to have a San Francisco woman-owned art business dedicated to creating one of a kind pieces.Â
